About Nupur Cultural Academy

Dr. Monisha Devi Goswami took the initiative to start Bharatnatyam classes in 1993. Since then, she has been the Founder & Director of Nupur Cultural Academy, an institute for lndian Classical Dances. As of now there are 4 branches and 3 sub-branches all throughout Assam. About 200 students have attained Arangatram so far. There are 8 instructors under Dr Monisha Devi, to take care of the curriculum. The school owns an auditorium named “GEETAM” with a capacity of around 100 people. The motto of the academy is about development of students by organizing various learning activities like Art competition, lecture demonstration, cultural events, and dance festivals. Apart from this, academy also celebrates all major festivals of India & abroad. Nupur Cultural Academy also gives training for students abroad through online streams. In 2017, the academy celebrated the silver jubilee in grandeur over the course of five days at five different places in Assam. The school owns a personal library which helps many research students from different parts of Assam. Every year, “GEETAM award” is given to dance exponents & Senior Artistes. The school under the guidance of Dr Monisha Devi Goswami conducts “Margi Dance Festival” which is to promote all artists who are involved in this field. Another major festival "Shankardev Madhavadev International Classical Dance Festival” is conducted every year which recognizes and honors artistes from around the world. Students of Nupur Cultural Academy are given opportunities to participate in programs abroad.
